Check every licence against the SIA register
Front-line security work in licensable sectors — door supervision, security guarding, public space surveillance (CCTV), close protection, cash and valuables in transit and key holding — needs a valid SIA licence for that activity. Deploying someone without one can be an offence for both the individual and the company.
During screening the candidate gives their 16-digit licence number, licence type and expiry date, and uploads a photo of the licence. Your team checks it on the SIA's public Register of Licence Holders, attaches the search result and records the check. Cleared to Secure won't let the licence be marked as verified until the register result is on file, as BS 7858 expects.
Renewal reminders four months ahead
SIA licences last three years, and the SIA advises applying to renew up to four months before expiry. Cleared to Secure flags each licence as due soon 120 days ahead and emails reminders to your team and the officer, so renewals are applied for in time — not discovered on the day a licence lapses.
