About Cleared to Secure
What is Cleared to Secure?
Cleared to Secure is UK software for private security companies that handles recruitment, BS 7858 screening, SIA licence tracking, workforce compliance and staff training in one place. Applicants complete an AI screening interview on their phone, then each screening check is collected, verified by the employer's team and kept in a screening file ready for client audits and ACS assessments. It is free for security professionals and run by Frankton Group Ltd.
Who is it for?
UK private security companies: manned guarding, door supervision, CCTV and control rooms, retail security, mobile patrol and key holding, event security and close protection — from a single-site contractor to multi-region groups. It is used by operations managers, screening and compliance teams and directors.
Who runs Cleared to Secure?
Cleared to Secure is a division of Frankton Group Ltd (company number 10718480), based in Brentwood, Essex.
Recruitment and screening
Does it help us screen to BS 7858?
Yes. It collects and records the checks BS 7858:2019 asks for — identity, right to work, a five-year history with gaps explained and verified, references and employment verification, a basic DBS check, a financial and credit history check and an SIA licence check — with a person on your team verifying each one. Everything is kept in a screening file you can show clients and ACS assessors. Cleared to Secure is not a certification: your organisation remains responsible for its screening and hiring decisions.
Does it check SIA licences?
Yes. Licences are checked against the SIA Register of Licence Holders and recorded with the licence sector and expiry date. Expiry dates are tracked and your team is reminded well before a licence needs renewing.
Does the AI decide who gets hired?
No. The AI interviewer asks the questions and produces a score and summary against six core security values, but your team reads the answers, verifies every check and makes every decision. Nobody is rejected automatically.
Can applicants do the interview on their phone?
Yes. It works in any modern phone browser with nothing to install, and applicants can speak or type their answers. Reminders go by email and text message to people who haven't started or finished.
Do we still need our own DBS provider?
Yes. Cleared to Secure records and evidences the basic DBS check and works with your existing DBS arrangements. For staff on the DBS Update Service it can check the certificate status automatically, with their consent.
Can we advertise jobs and have a careers page?
Yes, on the Growth and Group plans: job adverts (which can be written with AI), a branded careers page, listing on the Cleared to Secure jobs board and structured data so adverts can appear in Google's job search, plus a feed for job boards.
Can we send contracts and assignment instructions for signature?
Yes. Offer letters, contracts, assignment instructions and policies can be sent for electronic signature; each signed PDF carries a certificate showing who signed, when and a fingerprint of the exact document.
Staff compliance and training
Does it track ongoing staff compliance?
Yes. It tracks SIA licence expiry, right to work, DBS rechecks and training renewals, sends reminders by email and text, and produces a workforce compliance report. A managed compliance add-on, where the Cleared to Secure team chases and checks files for you, costs £2 per active staff member per month.
Does it include staff training?
Yes. It includes CPD e-learning for security staff, such as conflict management, counter-terrorism awareness, safeguarding and vulnerability, use of force and the law, arrest and searching, report writing, data protection and CCTV, lone working, fire safety and health and safety. It also records external training and issues certificates. These courses are CPD and awareness training: they are not SIA licence-linked qualifications. Each course is signed off by named, qualified reviewers before it can be assigned.
Can we move our staff records from another system?
Yes. Staff can be imported from a spreadsheet or another system's export, and security professionals can bring their existing details into a free Cleared to Secure account. Help moving existing records is included on the Group plan.

For security professionals
Is Cleared to Secure free for security professionals?
Always. Security officers, door supervisors, CCTV operators and other security professionals never pay to apply, interview, train or keep their passport, and they choose which employers can see their checks.
